Gloria Petyarre was born 1945 at Atnangkere Northern Territory
She first gained recognition as an artist working with the Batik style forming the Utopia Women's Batik Group in the 1970,s and has been a very distinguished an sought after Utopian artist She has four sisters who are also artists: Ada Bird, Violet, Myrtle, and Kathleen.
Gloria is a recipient of the New South Wales Art Gallery Wynne Prize and has with works in major world galleries and exhibitions including but not limited to

 BUSH MEDICINE ( Kurrajong leaves bush medicine )
Bush Medicine depicts the leaves of the kurrajong plant which are used in the healing of cuts bites and rashes
The leaves are collected then boiled the extracted resin is mixed with Kangaroo fat
collected from the kangaroo’s stomach. This creates a paste that can be stored for up to six months
